Lodging occurs when plant stems weaken to the point they can no longer support the weight of the grain causing it to fall over. As growers push for maximum grain yield, lodging is becoming a significant factor in rice production, increasing the time and cost of harvest and often resulting in significant yield loss.

There were many growers that achieved excellent WGY results this year even though the WGY seasonal average was low. This can be seen in the WGY distribution graph for Reiziq below. There were a number of lots with high WGY results around 55 - 65%. The highest WGY for Reiziq was 68.1%.
