Focus Sites
Finding solutions to local challenges through collaborative on-farm trials.
The purpose of the Focus Sites is to provide a commercial scale testing ground for new techniques, tools and management strategies. These real-world, on-farm demonstrations aim to inform the wider growing community to help improve productivity, sustainability and profitability of the rice-based farming system.
Growers, agronomists and researchers collaborate to make informed decisions that benefit the industry with consideration for the following core areas of rice farming:
Timing of planting and water management
Nutrient and pest management strategies
Constraints related to weather, water availability and soil conditions
All critical decisions, findings and challenges are communicated widely to the rice-growing community through our digital channels. Subscribe to our newsletter and follow our social media for regular updates.

Reference Groups
Each Focus Site has a dedicated Reference Group, comprising of local growers, agronomists and industry experts. These groups meet regularly to review data, discuss trials and make decisions on crop management of the site. Insights from these discussions are then shared more broadly to ensure that the knowledge is available for others in the industry.
Remote Rice Dashboard
This tool gives growers instant access to crop and environmental data to help inform and make decisions in crop management to maximise yield, quality, water and nitrogen efficiencies, and ultimately profitability.
It includes:
Real-time data on crop growth compared to historical average and high yielding crops for decision support for crop timing, nitrogen and water management
Crop nitrogen status at key vegetative phases to ensure the right amount of nitrogen at the right time of crop development
Details of in field variability to ensure site specific management and precision crop monitoring
