Topdressing nitrogen in rice achieves the best results when the plant is at the panicle intiation stage (P.I.). In this video, Andrew Schipp, NSW DPI District Agronomist at Hay will show you how to identify P.I. in the field so you will know when to take your plant samples for the nitrogen tissue test (NIR) in preparation for topdressing.

Our project began by looking at both green and brown slime, as both types of slime were thought to be due to nuisance algae. We soon found that farmers can control green slime which is caused mainly by green algae such as Spirogyra and Anabaena.
